Starting way back in about 1975 Bobby Scann began arranging these Christmas carols for four trombones. Every holiday season Jimmy Trimble, myself, Bobby and Dwight Davis would hop in Dwight's VW bus and go to the homes of friends, knock on their door and begin playing these carols. They always loved it and ALWAYS invited us in for food and drink.  Typically by about the 4th stop we had no business operating a motor vehicle, alas - those were different times.  Fortunately we all survived.

By about 2011, Bobby had arranged around 80 carols and asked me if I could get them recorded.  I got with local bass trombonist Ralph Pressler and we began recording all of them.  He played the bass bone part and I played the 1st part - then I would go back and overdub 2nd and 3rd.  It took many months but we got it done.  Shortly before his passing, Bobby made sure I had all the carols and also gave me 10 more that he had done in his hand copy (we lovingly called it "Scann Script").  He gave me permission to do whatever I wanted with the books as long as the money went to a music based charity.  All the books are available on my store here and the proceeds go to Jazz Outreach Initiative.  Enjoy!
